This year's May among the hottest yet

May 2023 qualifies for shared second place as the warmest May month globally ever, writes TT.

Only May 2020 was hotter.

However, the ocean surface temperature was the highest ever recorded.

The highest temperature of the month was measured in the African country of Chad, where it was 47.8 degrees on May 25. 

In Europe, the highest temperature was recorded in Coín on May 9 at 37.9 degrees.
