Swedes' bookings for the autumn and winter of 2026/27 are so far 5 percent above the corresponding period last year, according to travel agency Tickets' booking statistics. Europe still accounts for the most bookings, but travel to Asia is increasing faster and Bangkok is the most booked destination.
The data comes from the latest edition of Ticket Collection, which is based on the travel agency's own booking statistics and a survey conducted by Sifo Fifty5 Blue on behalf of Ticket.
According to Ticket, European destinations account for 54 percent of bookings for the fall and winter. Asia accounts for 31 percent, and bookings there have increased by around 25 percent compared to the same period last year.
– Europe is still the largest, but long-haul flights are taking up more space and Thailand in particular continues to attract, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
Thailand drives long-distance travel
Bangkok tops Ticket's list of the most booked travel destinations for the entire autumn and winter period, followed by Gran Canaria and Phuket.
Krabi is also among the ten most booked travel destinations.
Ticket states that bookings to Thailand have increased by 35 percent compared to the same period last year.
London is also one of the fastest growing European destinations. According to Ticket booking data, bookings there are 55 percent above last year's level.
Price remains an important factor
In the Sifo survey that Ticket refers to, 57 percent state that price is an important factor when planning their trip.
At the same time, 58 percent respond that their vacation plans are not affected by the economic situation.
Ticket interprets this as many travelers primarily adjusting their destination, time or length of trip rather than refraining from traveling.
The external situation affects the choices
According to the survey, 21 percent of those surveyed stated that they avoid certain travel destinations due to the global situation.
Ticket also points out that direct flights and easy connections have become more important in travel planning after periods of changed flight routes and disruptions in international air traffic.
– A more troubled world does not have to mean that Swedes stop traveling, but it can affect which travel destinations you feel safe with and how you want to get there, says Tiyoneh Jah.

The top list is based on bookings made at Ticket and therefore reflects the travel agency's own sales, not the entire Swedish travel market.
The survey behind Ticket Collection was conducted between July 29 and August 9, 2026 among 1,157 people in Sweden aged 18–79.
