The large group ate and drank for just over 82,000 kronor on Christmas Day. But when it was time to pay, the guests left Malmökrogen Atmosfär. Now several have been arrested after the notorious running bill.

After many rounds, two men and two women have been arrested, according to prosecutor Henrik Nordquist.

”"Yes, four people have been arrested this morning after I arrested them in their absence," he tells TT and continues:

”These are men and women in their 30s and 40s.”

A 42-year-old man, a known serial fraudster who has served a number of prison sentences, was initially suspected of the scam. It is unclear whether the same man is now one of those arrested – the prosecutor is being tight-lipped about the case.

It was on Christmas Eve 2023 that the group, a total of 35 people, had dinner at the restaurant in central Malmö. When it was time to pay, they got up from the table and left the restaurant in several taxis.

The 42-year-old claimed afterwards that they had agreed to pay via invoice - which the restaurant owner has denied.

According to the prosecutor, the suspects will deny the crime. The case is classified as gross fraud.

”"Material has emerged that makes one suspect a criminal proceeding. I consider it to be gross fraud, it has been systematic and deliberate," says Henrik Nordquist.
