Shining sun and high temperatures. In addition, many Swedes have been fully vaccinated and most restrictions have been lifted. Then tourists flock to the attractions of Västernorrland, where the High Coast seems to be a real tourist magnet. The tourism industry is hoping for a new record summer.
The Hornöberget parking lot is packed when SVT visits Mia Karlsson, CEO of Höga Kusten destination development.
– We had a feeling that a lot of people would come. When we talk to our contractors, they are very happy. It is not easy to find accommodation for one night, she says.
More people stay longer
New for this summer is that many people are choosing to stay in the same place for several days.
– We see this as a pattern this year, that people don't just book one night but stay two or three nights at their accommodations, continues Mia Karlsson.
”Fully booked almost every day”
Sundsvall and Härnösand are also feeling the influx of tourists. The hotels SVT has been in contact with are almost fully booked.
– It's fantastic now that the restrictions have been lifted. There has been a boom throughout the county, including in Sundsvall. We have been fully booked almost every day, and it is really fully booked, says Susanne Wernersson, hotel manager at Hotell Baltic in Sundsvall.
