Tourism is increasing in the Gothenburg region

Tourism is doing well in the Gothenburg region.

Compared to 2012, the number of guest overnight stays in the area has increased by over 100,000.

According to the West Sweden Tourist Board's statistics, there were 409,184 guest overnight stays at hotels, holiday villages and hostels in the Gothenburg region during May this year.

That's over 100,000 more than the same month in 2012, and since then overnight stays have increased every year.

According to Marie Linde, vice president of the Tourist Board of Western Sweden, the sunny weather could be one of the factors. She has a theory that more people feel attracted to staying in Sweden for vacation if it is sunny in May.

She also says that the Swedish krona is quite low right now, which is advantageous for foreign tourists from, for example, countries that use the euro as their currency.
