Many companies are crying out for staff ahead of this year's tourist season. The industry body, the Tourist Council, is implementing a number of different measures – but does not believe the staff shortage will be resolved in the near future.
– It will take a lot from many people to get over this, says the Tourist Council's CEO Fredrik Lindén.
For a long time, there has been a shortage of certain professions in the hospitality industry, such as chefs. But after the pandemic, there is a shortage in basically all professional categories.
– Maybe the demand came faster than some thought, but I don't think it came as a surprise. But it's difficult to solve in any case.
Long line of projects to find staff
During the spring, a series of projects were launched to help companies and staff find each other. However, the shortage in the industry will be a long-term issue.
– It's a big issue that has to do with education and competition. So it's an issue we're working on long-term.
