Dozens of Chinese tourists are injured after a tourist boat exploded off the Thai tourist island of Phi Phi Le.

According to the newspaper The Nation, the accident may have claimed one life.
The vessel, a speedboat named King Poseidon, was carrying 27 Chinese tourists and five Thai crew members when it set off from Phuket on Sunday. But as it reached the Phi Phi Islands, which are halfway between Phuket and Ko Lanta, the engine caught fire.

The incident is explained by a fuel leak, which caused the ship to quickly become engulfed in flames and be destroyed in a cloud of black smoke.
It all took place outside the tourist destination Viking Cave.

Phi Phi is a popular destination for tourists from Sweden and the rest of the world. Visitors stay on the larger island of Phi Phi Don, while Phi Phi Le is a popular excursion destination, especially since it was immortalized in the 2000 film The Beach.
