The stolen goods from the ancient city of Pompeii are cursed, according to a Canadian tourist who has returned artifacts she stole in Italy 15 years ago, The Guardian reports. .

The woman sent a package containing two mosaic tiles, parts of an amphora and a piece of pottery to a travel agency in Pompeii, along with a letter admitting to the theft. She links the stolen goods to a series of unfortunate events in her life, such as breast cancer and financial difficulties.

“Please, take them back, they bring bad luck,” she writes in the letter.

The travel agency reportedly handed the package over to the police.

Pompeii is one of Italy's most famous tourist destinations and has had a major problem with theft over the years. But it's not uncommon for gullible visitors to send back artifacts claiming they bring bad luck.
