Several tourists are reported to have been injured in connection with the collapse of an ice cave in Iceland, Icelandic media reports. Ruv.
The site is described as a popular tourist destination, and several people are reported to be trapped in the cave.
Sveinn Kristján Rúnarsson, head of the Icelandic police, tells the newspaper Visir that approximately 25 people visited the cave in connection with the accident, but that most were outdoors when the incident occurred.
The ice cave is located in the Breidamerkurjökull glacier in the southeast of the country. Coastguard helicopters, police and specially trained rescue personnel have been called to the scene, and work has begun to get the tourists out.
It is unclear how many tourists are trapped in the cave, but authorities say conditions there are "extremely difficult.".
The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
