The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is extending its advice against non-essential travel to most countries in the world until September 1st – but is also lifting the advice for eight countries and areas.

Starting Thursday, the travel advisory for the United States and also Albania, Lebanon, North Macedonia and Serbia, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, will be lifted.

If you travel to the countries that are exempt from the advice, you should still do so with some caution. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges all Swedish travelers to read carefully before traveling, to follow local rules and to plan their return trip in advance," the ministry writes in a press release.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously lifted the travel advice to Australia, Israel and Thailand, among others. Countries within the EU, EEA and Schengen area, as well as the United Kingdom, are also not covered by the advice.
