It's time for this year's edition of the Travel Barometer, the 12th in the series. This year's Travel Barometer, Sweden's only independent travel habits survey, is conducted in collaboration between European ERV and the travel and tourism analytics company Travel and Tourism Resource.
How have the various events of recent years affected our travel, that is the question.
The first corona year, 2020, we almost completely stopped traveling abroad. Travel decreased by between 80 and 90 percent. The second corona year, international travel returned to 50–60 percent. But what happened to travel in 2022 and has travel changed? We asked the Swedes that.
The Travel Barometer has been conducted since 2010. This year we asked 9,500 Swedes about their trips abroad and in Sweden. We have also received answers to the question of why people travel, how to live and how to insure themselves while traveling. Furthermore, we have mapped out how concerns about global warming, pandemic restrictions and infection risks have affected travel.
Furthermore, we have received answers to the question of how Swedes plan to travel once the crises have passed. We are also conducting a future survey on how Ukraine War affects travel – both in the short and long term.
