The UK economy is at risk of losing £22 billion, equivalent to approximately SEK 255 billion, as a result of falling international tourism in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is what the Guardian writes, which has taken note of a report from the organization World Travel & Tourism Council, WTTC.

The report says the continued uncertainty surrounding travel restrictions is resulting in millions of overseas visitors choosing to stay home rather than visit the country. The WTTC estimates that the loss of international tourism could reduce spending in the country by as much as 78 percent, equivalent to £420 million a week.

In a worst-case scenario, WTTC predicts that nearly 3 million tourism-related jobs in the UK could be lost, putting London's position as one of the world's top destinations for tourism and business travel at risk.
