Virgin Australia, which filed for bankruptcy last year, is still struggling. The company said it reached 40 percent capacity in January, significantly lower than the 60 percent it had previously forecast.

This is at a time when several states have introduced travel restrictions in the country due to a corona outbreak in Sydney last year.

Competitor Qantas also states that domestic travel is significantly lower than previously stated in previous forecasts.
