The tropical storm that has displaced thousands of Filipinos from their homes grew in strength as it headed toward Hong Kong and other parts of southeastern China on Wednesday.
The storm warnings are forcing several cities in Guangdong province to halt high-speed rail and ferry services. Flights have been canceled at Shenzhen airport.
The storm is expected to weaken as it moves towards the Chinese mainland and northern Vietnam on Thursday, according to China's meteorological authority.
