The aircraft that US President Donald Trump received as a gift from Qatar has passed its tests and is expected to take to the skies as early as this summer, according to the US Air Force.

Qatar donated the plane, a Boeing 747 worth several billion kronor, to Trump last year and it will be used as the presidential plane, in accordance with the Gulf state's wishes.

The planet is currently being repainted in the colours of the American flag – red, white and blue.

After the US received the controversial gift, the Ministry of Defence stated that it ”will work to ensure that adequate safety measures and functions” are taken to transport the president.
