Starting next summer, it will be possible to vacation in the Azores with TUI. The Portuguese islands in the Atlantic are popularly known as the ”Hawaii of Europe” and offer a combination of magnificent natural experiences and vibrant city life.

The Azores are a hidden gem for nature-loving travellers. But for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and experience nature up close, the Azores are a paradise that should be high on their wish list. The archipelago is particularly famous for its whale and dolphin watching tours, as well as beautiful hiking trails that offer a mix of spectacular views and adventure. TUI’s Azores trips go to the main island of São Miguel, where travellers can choose from destinations such as Capelas, Lagoa and the island’s capital, Ponta Delgada.

  • Chapels – Among TUI's destinations, Capelas stands out – a small and idyllic village on the north side of the island. Capelas charms visitors with its friendly, local atmosphere and lush nature by the sea.
  • Lagoa – A smaller town with proximity to the spectacular nature of the Azores. Lagoa is located next to one of the archipelago's most famous attractions, the twin lakes, surrounded by the volcanic crater of the village of Sete Cidades. Here, travelers also have the opportunity to visit the Azores hot springs, the Caldeira Velha waterfall and experience outstanding hiking trails.
  • Ponta Delgada – São Miguel’s capital offers travelers the opportunity to explore the island’s rich history and local city life. Historical traces are visible in the city center, with Gothic churches, cobblestone streets, 16th-century forts and Portuguese taverns. For those who want to experience São Miguel’s lively city life, there are many restaurants and bars here. Several excursions to the island’s most significant natural attractions also depart from Ponta Delgada.

Wide range of excursions and experiences
All TUI destinations in the Azores are located close to some of the archipelago's most significant attractions, making it easy to explore more parts of São Miguel and take in the a large selection of excursions. The Azores are particularly popular for whale watching, with travelers having the opportunity to see up to 20 different species of whales during a boat trip. The Azores are also home to Europe's only tea plantation, where visitors can take guided tours and learn about tea production, or visit a local pineapple plantation.
