Turkey's tourism industry was hit hard in May, with the number of foreign visitors plummeting by 99.3 percent year-on-year to just 29,829 people as the coronavirus pandemic forced the country to shut down airports and tourism.

During the first five months of the year, the number of tourist visits has dropped by 66.4 percent to 4.29 million, Reuters reports.
