Turkish Airlines is temporarily grounding its Boeing 737 MAX 9 planes after the incident in the United States where one of the windows and part of the aircraft cabin became detached on a plane of that model during flight.

Turkish Airlines has five MAX 9 planes that will immediately undergo additional safety checks.

On Saturday, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grounded Boeing 737 Max 9 flights. The temporary grounding applies to planes flown by US companies or within US territory.

Airlines Alaska and United Airlines and Copa Airlines have also temporarily stopped all flights with the model.
