Monaco is one of the world's smallest countries, but it packs an unusually large mix of history, glamour, culture and Mediterranean ambience. From the Prince's Palace and Monte-Carlo's legendary casino to small market halls, gardens and seaside resorts - most of it can be discovered on foot during a short stay.

1. Monaco-Ville and the Rock
The historic heart of Monaco is located on the cliff that rises above the Mediterranean Sea. In Monaco-Ville, narrow alleys, pastel-colored buildings, small restaurants and viewpoints over the harbor and coastline await.
2. The Prince's Palace
The Prince's Palace has been the residence of the Grimaldi family for centuries and is one of Monaco's main landmarks. Parts of the palace are open to visitors during selected periods and provide an insight into the history of the principality.
3. The Changing of the Guard
Every day, visitors gather in front of the Prince's Palace to watch the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony, one of Monaco's most famous free experiences.
4. Monaco Cathedral
The Cathedral of Notre-Dame-Immaculée is built of light limestone and is the burial place of several members of the royal family, including Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace.
5. Oceanographic Museum
Perched on a cliff high above the sea, Monaco's Oceanographic Museum houses aquariums, marine exhibits, and a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Mediterranean.

The classic casino is a symbol of Monte-Carlo's elegance and international jet-set history. The ornate building is located on Place du Casino alongside exclusive hotels, restaurants and shops.

8. Port Hercules
The large harbor is home to sailboats alongside some of the world's most exclusive superyachts. The area is also central to Monaco's Formula 1 race, as parts of the city circuit run along the water.
9. La Condamine Market
Marché de La Condamine has been a meeting place since 1880. The market hall features fresh produce and local specialties, including barbajuan – a deep-fried pastry often filled with chard and ricotta.
10. Japanese Garden
The Japanese Garden near Larvotto offers a tranquil contrast to Monte-Carlo's intense city life, featuring ponds, bridges, waterfalls, rock arrangements and traditionally inspired plantings.
11. Larvotto Beach
Larvotto is Monaco's main public beach and is close to restaurants, promenades and hotels. It is suitable for both a quick dip and a longer day by the Mediterranean.
12. Fontvieille and Princess Grace's Rose Garden
Fontvieille is a more modern area, partly built on land reclaimed from the sea. It is home to Princess Grace's rose garden, the port, cultural sites and walking paths with views of the coastal landscape.
Despite its exclusive profile, Monaco offers many experiences that are free of charge. The combination of short distances, public elevators and well-developed pedestrian streets makes it possible to discover a large part of the principality in a day – but those who stay longer also have time to experience the restaurants, museums and nightlife.
