Storm Lan has moved north across the Pacific Ocean, and has now reached the south coast of central Japan with wind speeds of 45 meters per second measured and rain pouring down.
This has caused Japanese airlines to cancel hundreds of flights, with Japanese media counting around 900 cancelled flights so far, reports TT.
A number of shinkansen, Japan's famous high-speed trains, between Tokyo and Nagoya, among other places, are also being cancelled. And some highways are being closed.
Evacuations in the most vulnerable areas include approximately 250,000 people.
