Uber has been ordered to shut down by a court in Slovakia after ordinary taxi drivers complained that the company's service constitutes unfair competition.
Reuters reports that the verdict was reportedly delivered on March 6 but was only announced on Tuesday.
Uber, which still operates in the Slovak capital Bratislava, declined to comment until it received the verdict.
Uber has been banned from operating in several other parts of Europe, including London. The European Court of Justice has also ruled that the company is a transport service and should therefore be regulated in the same way as other taxi operators. Uber has always maintained that it is a digital service.
