The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) now advises against non-essential travel to Bangladesh.
During the week, several demonstrations have taken place in, among other places, the capital Dhaka, according to the Swedish Embassy in Bangladesh.
”"Reports have been received of deaths and a large number of injuries. Traffic connections are also severely affected and internet connections in the country are limited. The mobile phone network is functioning but is overloaded during periods," the embassy writes on its website.
The Bangladesh government has also issued a curfew for parts of the country.
The advice remains in effect until further notice.
