Due to the coronavirus crisis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to bring back certain personnel and families from particularly high-risk areas, reports Swedish Radio Echo.
The decision covers 21 countries, according to Ekot, including countries in Africa as well as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Ukraine.
The reason is, among other things, the possibility for staff to receive care and the uncertainty regarding exit regulations.
– We also have to take into account that some of our employees and perhaps their family members may belong to risk groups, so there are many different aspects, says Buster Mirow Emitslöf, press communicator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Ekot.
No embassies will close completely and support for other Swedes who want to return home will not be affected.
