The Foreign Office is urging all Swedes to leave Iran.

”In light of the security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided on 12 January 2026 to intensify its travel advice for Iran. The following advice applies: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to Iran and urges Swedes in Iran to leave the country. The advice applies until further notice,” they write on their Website.

The background is the extensive protests against the Iranian regime that have shaken the country in recent weeks. According to the human rights organisation HRANA, close to 500 protesters have been killed in the riots so far
