United Airlines' loss lower than expected

American airline United Airlines reported revenue in line with expectations for the third quarter. Adjusted earnings per share were better than expected.

Revenue rose to $7.75 billion (2.49), but compared to the same quarter in 2019, there was a decrease of 32 percent. The outcome can be compared with analyst consensus, which was 7.64.

Adjusted Earnings per share were -1.02 dollars (-8.16), which is better than the analyst consensus of -1.67.

The airline expects capacity in the fourth quarter to be 23 percent lower than in 2019. Revenue is expected to decrease 25-30 percent compared to two years ago.
