The United States is easing its restrictions on Cuba, the US State Department announces.

”"The Cuban people are facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and our policy will continue to focus on empowering the Cuban people to help them create a future free from oppression and economic suffering," the State Department wrote in a statement.

Among other things, Cubans living in the United States will be allowed to send more money home to family members, and it will also be okay to provide financial support to "independent Cuban entrepreneurs.".

The number of flights to Cuba is also allowed to increase and visa regulations are eased somewhat.
