It was not until the 1960s that water levels were as high in the Torne River as they are this spring.
Rapid snow melting combined with heavy rain has caused the roads in Haparanda to be underwater, reports TT.
Hotel guests at Cape East in Haparanda are transported on a tractor trailer to get to the reception, writes TT.
– I didn't think guests or staff would be able to get to the hotel, since it is so close to the river, hotel guest Kerstin Jonsson tells TT.
Several of the hotel guests are stranded in their homes.
“They are not coming out of the houses, but are stranded and do not have access to a road to get here,” says hotel manager Maria Hansson.
