According to travel agency Ticket, spring travel bookings have increased by 14 percent, and it is mainly European cities that attract Swedes. London tops the list among metropolitan destinations – while Gdansk stands out as the spring rocket.
Spring travel bookings have increased by 14 percent compared to the same period last year, according to travel agency Ticket. The travel agency's booking statistics show that it is primarily trips to European cities that are driving the development.
– Spring offers several long weekends such as Easter, Walpurgisday and Ascension Day. Many see it as a perfect opportunity to go away for a weekend to a city somewhere in Europe, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR & Communications Manager at Ticket.
London is the city that most Swedes have booked trips to this spring – and bookings there have increased by a whopping 58 percent compared to last year. Classic big city favorites such as Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona and Rome are also at the top of the list.
At the same time, clear changes are visible further down the top list. Gdansk is the city where bookings have increased the most in percentage terms – they have more than quadrupled compared to last spring. Lisbon is also sailing up as a newcomer among the most booked cities.
– We see that many travelers are looking for affordable alternatives and new destinations, while many are returning to classic big city favorites, says Tiyoneh Jah.
