Starting in the spring of 2024, Venice will introduce a ticketing system for day visitors in an attempt to limit the number of tourists in the city, The Guardian reports.
A day visit to the historic parts of the city will cost five euros, equivalent to just under 60 Swedish kronor per person.
Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro said it is necessary to limit the number of tourists but that this does not mean the city is closed and remains "open to everyone." (TT)
