In March 2024, Viking Line will move the ship Viking Cinderella from cruise traffic between Stockholm and Mariehamn to traffic on the Stockholm-Mariehamn-Helsinki route. In connection with this, Cinderella will be reflagged to the Finnish flag.
Viking Line has operated cruise traffic between Stockholm and Mariehamn with the ship Viking Cinderella since 2003. When the ship instead begins service on the Helsinki route in the spring of 2024, it will also be reflagged to the Finnish flag. For Viking Rederi AB's staff on the Viking Cinderella, the change will not result in layoffs. The staff will be offered continued work on the ship under Finnish collective agreement terms.
In the spring of 2024, Viking Line will also start a new cruise service from Stockholm in collaboration with Gotlandsbolaget. Both shipping companies own 50 percent of the cruise ship, which was previously called Birka Stockholm. The new operation will enable Viking Rederi's staff to show interest in starting to serve on the former Birka. The ship will operate under the Swedish flag with Swedish collective agreement terms. According to an agreement between Viking Line and Gotlandsbolaget, Viking Rederi will handle the catering staff and Destination Gotland the operational staff on the joint ship.
