During the summer months, Viking Line is expanding capacity again on the Helsinki–Tallinn route. Tourism to Estonia has increased significantly in the spring, and regular traffic is growing in both directions. The additional departures from 18 June to 14 August mean more travel options, especially for families with children and shopping travellers.
The number of passengers on the route to Tallinn always increases noticeably during the summer months. Viking Line has been introducing extra summer departures between Helsinki and Tallinn since 2014. M/S Gabriella and M/S Amorella from the Stockholm route are being used as reinforcements and will make an extra trip to Tallinn in connection with their stops in Helsinki. The two ships are a long-awaited and necessary complement during the busiest season of the year.
”"We are looking forward to a very busy summer on the Tallinn route. Anyone who wants to be sure of getting a parking space for a particular departure is best to book in time as parking spaces are often sold out. The families' summer favorite is still the simple six-hour picnic cruise with many different activities for the youngest. It is gratifying to see the ships filled with happy summer passengers again," says Viking Line's Head of Information Christa Grönlund.
Overall, tourism to Estonia is experiencing a clear upswing, and passenger numbers continue to increase as the summer progresses. The typical Tallinn tourist no longer exists as easy and fast connections have led to more and more people seeking out both Tallinn and the rest of Estonia for shopping, services and experiences.
