Viking has opened bookings for its ocean cruises during 2028 and 2029. Total launched over 700 new departures on 80 different routes, with visits to 301 ports in 84 countries on six continents.
It is Viking's largest offering of ocean cruises to date and also includes the company's two upcoming ships Viking Vega and Viking Leda, which are scheduled to be delivered in 2028 and 2029, respectively.
Two brand new cruise routes
“With our largest investment in ocean cruising to date, we are excited to offer our guests even more opportunities to explore the world. From new itineraries to our two newest ships, this investment reflects our continued focus on destination-centric travel,” said Leah Talactac, CEO of Viking.
The 2028-2029 program includes the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the Caribbean, South America and the Panama Canal, with voyages ranging from eight days to longer world cruises.
Two new itineraries are launched:
Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage is a 15-day cruise from Vancouver to Whittier through Alaska's Inside Passage and fjord landscapes. The program includes opportunities for kayaking and hiking, as well as meetings with representatives of the Tlingit culture.
Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa is a 16-day round trip from Rome. The cruise takes in Valletta, Malta, and continues to North Africa and Andalusia, before travelers experience Provence and Corsica on the way back to Rome.
Viking is also expanding the number of sailings on the recently introduced Japan Discovery. The 15-day cruise sails round-trip from Tokyo and around Japan, including Niigata, Fukuoka, Sapporo and Shimizu, as well as a trip across the Sea of Japan to the Korean Peninsula.
Two new ships on the way
Viking Vega and Viking Leda will be the latest additions to Viking's ocean-going fleet. Like the company's other ocean-going ships, they are classified as smaller cruise ships.
The ships will have a gross tonnage of 54,300 tons, 499 cabins and capacity for 998 guests. All cabins have a veranda and on board Viking continues with its Scandinavian design, bright common areas and several options for outdoor dining.
