For the fourth time this week – and the third night in a row – Vilnius Airport has been forced to close, reports LRT.lt. According to initial reports, the decision is due to balloons flying at the airport.

Air traffic was stopped between 9:42 p.m. and 1:40 a.m., the state-owned company Lietuvos oro uostai (LTOU) announced.

”"Air traffic at Vilnius Airport was temporarily stopped at 21:42. According to initial information, the decision is due to balloons flying towards the airport. The restrictions are in effect until 01:40," LTOU writes on Facebook.

Nearly 95 flights and 14,000 passengers have been affected this week. Several border crossings with Belarus have also been closed, according to LRT.lt.

Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė has called an emergency meeting, according to Lithuanian media.
