3,600 people who were isolated for the virus on the World Dream cruise ship in Hong Kong are now allowed to disembark, reports The South China Morning Post.
The all-clear comes after the crew, who had previously been in contact with eight guests who were found to be infected with coronavirus, were tested and found to be virus-free.
”All passengers and crew members can disembark,” said Leung Yiu-Hong, a health control representative at Kai Tak, the new cruise terminal that opened east of the city center in 2013.
The ship has been in isolation there for four days, after canceling a cruise that began on February 2. The trip was supposed to go to Taiwan, but the island nation refused to accept the World Dream. The ship is now being taken out of service until further notice, operator Dream Cruises announced.
Virus alerts have hit several large cruise ships. The Diamond Princess, with over 3,700 people on board, is still in isolation in Japan. The only people allowed to leave the ship are those who have contracted the virus, which is currently just over 60 people.
