On Tuesday, two new cases outside previously affected areas were confirmed in Italy.

This afternoon, the Liguria region, which borders the hardest-hit Lombardy region, confirmed that one person had tested positive for the coronavirus. Earlier in the day, a case was confirmed in Sicily, which is at the other end of the country. Two cases are also suspected in Tuscany.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte urges citizens to remain calm.

”"We have one of the most rigorous healthcare systems in the world," said Giuseppe Conte during Tuesday's press conference.

In addition, two cases have been confirmed in neighboring Austria and one in Croatia.
