A warning has been issued by local authorities after a volcanic eruption in Hawaii.

The lava flow is currently not at risk of affecting areas where people live, but the smoke and ash are at risk of spreading, according to USGS.

Residents in the area are advised to prepare for rapid changes in directives and to monitor reports from local authorities and media.
