Up to 10,000 people are being urged to leave their homes after the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island erupted.

The eruption follows a series of earthquakes recently.

Authorities have reported smoke and lava spewing from a fissure in an area where around 10,000 people live. The evacuation is voluntary.
