Now Vy is investing even more in international traffic and increasing the number of departures between the major cities of Oslo and Gothenburg starting on December 10.
– We have strong confidence in this route, which is an important transport connection between Norway and Sweden. Not least, it is a starting point for many train journeys further into Europe, says Erik Røhne, CEO of Vy Tåg.
Train departures every two hours
Travelers between Oslo and Gothenburg are a diverse mix of commuters, business travelers and leisure travelers. Number of departures and punctuality are two important drivers for travelers to choose the train over another mode of transportation.
– We know that frequent departures are important for our customers and with this increase, the offer between Oslo and Gothenburg will be significantly improved. We believe that this provides high flexibility for our customers and believe that it will make more people choose the train, says Erik Røhne.
Between Halden and Gothenburg, Vy has a ticketing partnership with Västtrafik, which means that their customers with season tickets also receive an expanded line selection.
– We look forward to having more connections between Oslo and Gothenburg. In addition, our train passengers in Ed and Trollhättan will have more trips to choose from, says Pontus Gunnäs, Business Manager for Trains at Västtrafik.
More choices between major cities
The more departures there are in each direction, the easier it is to travel environmentally friendly between the big cities. Bring the whole family and choose an early departure from Oslo, experience Gothenburg your way and take the evening train home. Or start your working day on the train, go to a meeting in Gothenburg and have dinner at home.
Vy operates 7-8 departures in each direction on weekdays and 6-7 departures in each direction on weekends.
Better connections to Europe
In addition to high frequency, Vy has also worked to ensure that departure and arrival times match journeys further out in Europe, for example to Copenhagen or Hamburg, to the greatest extent possible. The increase will also provide connections between Vy's trains to/from Bergen and Lillehammer, making it easier for customers to continue their journey to Gothenburg – or continue their journey out in Europe.
