Canadian autonomous truck startup Waabi has raised $750 million in funding, the equivalent of SEK 6.6 billion, as the company enters into a partnership to develop driverless systems for Uber's robo-taxi services, CNBC reports.
The round was led by Khosla Ventures and G2 Venture Partners and is one of the largest ever completed by a Canadian tech company.
In addition to the capital round, Uber has committed to investing an additional $250 million in Waabi, tied to future milestones.
CEO Raquel Urtasun states that the money will be used to further develop the company's so-called physical AI for autonomous vehicles.
