The Italian State Tourist Office is inviting Stockholmers to an open-air pop-up opera. Two trained singers will appear at a number of locations around the city – locations with an environment that, with a little imagination, can bring to mind Italy. All to arouse the desire to discover more of the country. Pop-up opera or street opera is relatively common in Italy. It is a format with short performances in a public place, where singers and audience come closer to each other. On Friday 29th and Saturday 30th September, the Italian State Tourist Office is inviting the capital's residents to experience the phenomenon on site in Stockholm.
– We are constantly looking for new ways to highlight the culture, environments and food from the country that is so dear to my heart. The street opera initiative is as much a tribute to Stockholm as it is a reminder that Italy awaits even after the summer season, says Anna Andersson, head of the Italian State Tourist Office. The two singers are soprano Simonetta Cavalli and tenor Ulf Bergström, both with experience from both classical opera stages and street opera. The places they will sing in have been carefully chosen based on their ”Italian character”. The following are approximate performance times.
