June was the warmest June ever recorded in Western Europe, according to the EU's climate service Copernicus. It reports Excellent.
“Large parts of the region experienced severe heat stress,” says Samantha Burgess, Deputy Director at Copernicus.
Globally, it was the third warmest June on record.
The global average temperature was around 16.5 degrees – about half a degree higher than the average for the period 1991–2020. In Western Europe, the average temperature was over 20 degrees, almost three degrees above the average for the same period.
