The number of booked autumn holiday trips has increased by almost 62 percent compared to last year, new statistics from travel agency Ticket show. London, Paris and Rome top the list of Swedes' most booked travel destinations – and scheduled flights account for the largest increase.
The autumn holidays are a popular time to travel and this year the interest is greater than in a long time. According to Ticket booking statistics, the number of trips booked has increased steadily in recent months and is now almost 62 percent higher than during the autumn holidays last year. It is mainly regular flights to major European cities that attract Swedish travelers.
“Many people see the fall break as a chance to change their environment and experience something new. Shorter trips to European cities provide a welcome break and the opportunity to discover a lot in a short time,” says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
Sunny destinations like Gran Canaria continue to attract families looking for warmth, but this year's statistics clearly show that big cities dominate Swedes' autumn holiday trips. London and Paris continue to top bookings, while Rome makes a strong comeback, climbing from ninth to third place. New destinations on this year's top list are Alicante, Gdansk and Prague - all popular for shorter trips this autumn.
