Here's the cheapest place to camp in Europe

Sweden lands on the top list of countries in Europe where a camping week is the cheapest, according to a compilation from the comparison site Discover Cars.

The site has compiled the average cost of renting a car and camping for a week in different European countries.

The cheapest is a camping week in Portugal, which costs an average of around 3,980 kronor. It is a couple of thousand kronor more expensive in Sweden – here a week costs an average of 6,055 kronor.

At the opposite end, the Netherlands is the most expensive country to vacation in. A week costs an average of 11,200 SEK, making it over 7,000 SEK more expensive than a Portuguese budget vacation.

You have previously reported that Swedish camping is moving towards a record year. Swedish guests account for the majority of camping, while German tourists are pouring in and in recent years have accounted for around 9 percent of bookings.

Every year, a total of approximately 1 million people visit Swedish campsites.
