Sweden's largest restaurant guide – White Guide – is now also starting to test hotels. The assessments will be made according to the same principles that White Guide has used for restaurants for 20 years
– There is a real need for professional and independent hotel guides who provide impartial assessments, says Lisa Lindwall, hotel manager at Bank Hotel in Stockholm.
We want to give Swedish travelers an independent and quality-assured assessment of hotels, in the same way we do with restaurants, says White Guide CEO Peter Kjellberg.
– We will offer a professional assessment carried out by very experienced travelers. And there will be clear criteria that take into account the fact that hotels – like restaurants – are about experiences and emotions.
– It's a question of balancing objective and subjective information in the same way we do with restaurants.
The connection to the White Guide restaurant tests is clear. Studies show that a majority of all private trips are linked to so-called culinary tourism. That food is an important part of the trip itself.
White Guide will focus on hotels that want to offer an experience and avoid pure low-cost options and pure chain hotels.
Missing from the hotels
An independent Swedish hotel guide has been missing for a long time, says Lisa Lindwall, hotel manager at Bank Hotel in Stockholm.
– There is a real need for professional and independent hotel guides that provide unbiased reviews. This allows guests to make informed decisions and feel like they are getting what they thought they would get.
– Highly trusted recommendations also allow us as hotel operators to become better at creating unforgettable guest experiences.
– White Guide is well-known and trustworthy, and that's exactly what the industry needs.
White Guide's hotel guide will begin publication in the summer of 2024.
