Wizz Air is expanding and launching two new direct routes from Malmö Airport ahead of the winter program 2024, to Bucharest and Iasi respectively. The new routes will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

As one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe, Wizz Air is now expanding its extensive network of destinations further by adding two new direct routes from Malmö Airport. Starting on 29 October, Wizz Air will serve Bucharest and Iasi in Romania, which will be a welcome addition to the airport’s offering. The new routes, which will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, will further strengthen the region’s accessibility to Southeastern Europe.

– Wizz Air's choice to expand and offer two new routes to and from Malmö Airport for winter 2024 is a welcome addition to the total range of destinations from the airport, says Nils Funke, Airport Manager for Malmö Airport. The new direct routes will meet the increased demand for travel to international destinations and both Bucharest and Iasi therefore feel extra exciting. Wizz Air with its extensive network plays an important role in Swedavia's goal of enabling people to meet, whether for business, leisure or to visit family and friends, he says.

“We are delighted to expand our network with Bucharest and Iasi, offering our passengers more opportunities to explore some of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally rich destinations. Malmö is a fantastic addition that offers unique experiences for travelers seeking adventure, relaxation and everything in between. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board and helping them create unforgettable memories,” says Olivia Harangozo, Corporate Communications Manager, Wizz Air.

Starting from October 29, 2024, Wizz Air will operate Malmö Airport (MMX) – Bucharest (OTP) twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with an A321CEO aircraft with a capacity for 230 passengers.

Starting from 29 October 2024, Wizz Air will operate Malmö Airport (MMX) – Iasi (IAS) twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with an A320CEO aircraft with a capacity for 180 passengers.
