
Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, which is challenging SAS and Norwegian, among others, reports increasing sales and reduced losses in the first quarter compared to the same period last year.
During the quarter, the number of passengers increased to 2.95 million (0.7).
Sales rose 119.2 percent to EUR 199.0 million (90.8).
Ebitda result was -17.8 million euros (-42.4).
The result after tax was EUR -114.4 million (-108.0).
The underlying profit after tax amounted to EUR -118.7 million (56.7).
Wizz Air CEO József Váradi stated that the airline experienced an encouraging pattern in the recovery of air passengers during the quarter, with capacity gradually increasing month after month.
Ahead of the third quarter, Váradi expects Wizz Air to reach passenger levels in July and August that are 90 and 100 percent of the levels seen in 2019.
