Wizz Air continues to expand at Malmö Airport with a new direct route ahead of the 2026 summer season. Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, is added to the offering from Malmö Airport, further strengthening the region's accessibility to Eastern and Southern Europe.

Wizz Air is one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe and is now expanding its offering from Malmö Airport further. Wizz Air is launching a new direct route for the summer season 2026, this time with a destination of Podgorica in Montenegro. The city, located near the Adriatic Sea, is considered a gateway to Montenegro's cultural attractions and dramatic nature, and offers something for both the adventurous and the culinary enthusiast.

– Wizz Air expanding its offer with a new direct route from Malmö Airport is a welcome addition to the total range of destinations from the airport. There is a strong demand for travel to and from Sweden, and Podgorica therefore feels extra exciting, says Charlotte Ljunggren, Director of Marketing and Sales at Swedavia. When Wizz Air, with its extensive network of flights, plays an important role in achieving Swedavia's goal of enabling people to meet, whether for business, leisure or to visit family and friends, he says.

“The new route from Malmö to Podgorica reflects our continued commitment to offering Swedish passengers convenient and affordable travel options. Through our Customer First Compass program, we continue to put travelers at the center and ensure a smooth, enjoyable journey from booking to arrival,” says Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communication Manager at Wizz Air. We are excited to expand our network in Northern Europe and create a direct link between Sweden and Montenegro. It gives more Swedish travelers the opportunity to explore Podgorica, while welcoming Montenegrins to discover Sweden’s stunning landscapes and Nordic charm. We are grateful for the growing number of travelers choosing Wizz Air and with many more exciting destinations in sight, we say: Let’s Wizz!

Starting from 29 March 2026, Wizz Air will operate Malmö Airport (MMX) – Podgorica (TGD) four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with an A321 that has a seating capacity of 239.
