Sweden's World Cup qualification had an immediate impact on travel. On the same day, bookings to the US and Mexico increased by 93 percent – and during the Easter weekend, demand remained at a high level.

When Sweden qualified for the World Cup on March 31, after their victory over Poland, the reaction was immediate. Bookings to the venues increased by 93 percent compared to the same period the week before.

– It was a very clear reaction. Many people want to be there when Sweden plays and booked the trip immediately when the World Cup spot was secured, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR & Communications Manager at Ticket.

Interest remained strong over the Easter weekend. Bookings increased by around 29 percent compared to the week before. At the same time, searches for flights also increased in connection with Sweden qualifying. Immediately after the match, they increased by around 33 percent compared to the same period the week before. During the Easter weekend, searches remained at a higher level – around 16 percent above the week before.

– We see that both bookings and searches primarily go to the cities where Sweden plays its group stage matches. At the same time, Philadelphia also stands out, which indicates that many are already planning for possible advancement in the tournament, she says.

The increased demand is also reflected in the price picture.

– When demand increases this quickly, we see that prices go up and that seats can run out. For those who want to go and see the matches in person, it is therefore wise to be out in good time, concludes Tiyoneh Jah.

This is where the trips are booked – this is where the Swedes want to experience the World Cup in person:

  • Monterrey – opening match against Tunisia on June 15
  • Houston – match against the Netherlands on June 20
  • Dallas – the meeting with Japan on June 26
  • Philadelphia – possible playoff city if Sweden advances

The statistics are based on Ticket search and booking data for trips booked between March 31 and April 6, 2026, compared to the corresponding period the previous week.
