Now Sweden's largest cultural history museum is opening its doors to its largest exhibition ever. Swedish history is more relevant than ever. Last year, Sweden turned 500, SVT's major project "The History of Sweden" has broken viewing records and even the struggling Viaplay has caught on to the trend and in January released the multi-million dollar project "Stockholm bloodbath" which depicts Christian the Tyrant's ravages in Stockholm in the 1520s. The film had a budget of 155 million kronor, which is a hefty budget for a Swedish film.
The Nordic Museum on Djurgården in Stockholm does not want to be inferior and on Saturday opens its doors to its largest exhibition ever. Last year, the Nordic Museum had over 870,000 visitors and thus reached the top three position on the list of Sweden's most popular museums.
”"We turned 150 in October and the entire initiative is part of our anniversary program. It's not a story from A to Z, but rather a kaleidoscope that follows time over 500 years in the Nordic region," says project manager Elna Nord about the exhibition "Nordbor".
