Eurostar will be the first train operator to launch an app in ChatGPT in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. Travellers can search for departures, journey times and current prices directly in ChatGPT and then proceed to the Eurostar website to book their ticket.
The new service will be launched globally this summer and will allow travellers to plan their train journeys by writing or speaking to ChatGPT in their native language. To use the service, users will link their ChatGPT account to the Eurostar app in ChatGPT.
For example, you can search for a weekend trip between London and Paris, compare departure times between Brussels and Amsterdam or find suitable train alternatives for a longer European trip.
Information about timetables, travel times and available ticket prices is retrieved in real time. However, the actual purchase is not made in ChatGPT – the traveler is forwarded to eurostar.com to complete the booking.
AI traffic to Eurostar has increased fivefold
The investment comes at a time when AI services are quickly becoming a new entry point into Eurostar's sales.
Between January 2025 and June 2026, traffic to eurostar.com from AI platforms increased fivefold. In June 2026, ChatGPT accounted for 85 percent of all traffic to the site coming from AI applications.
Furthermore, between May and July 2026, 0.8–1 percent of ticket bookings on eurostar.com could be linked to traffic from AI applications.
“Search patterns are changing rapidly and travelers are increasingly using conversational tools to search for information and plan their trips. By launching the Eurostar app in ChatGPT, we are choosing to be where our customers are already searching for information and planning their trips,” says François Le Doze, Chief Commercial Officer at Eurostar.
More AI features are planned
Eurostar says the service will be further developed. Features being considered include more advanced destination search, visualisation of the train network, travel inspiration and easier access to selected prices and offers.
The company will also explore the possibilities of offering its services through other conversational AI assistants.
Eurostar currently operates 51 high-speed trains and serves more than 20 destinations in the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. In 2025, 20 million passengers travelled with the company. Eurostar has also ordered up to 50 new double-decker Celestia trains from Alstom, with scheduled service starting in May 2031.
